• A Note From Your Principal

    Washington Families,

Beginning a new school year is always an exhilarating time and this year is no different. As the 2019-20 year approaches, the faculty and staff of WJHS want you to know we're enthusiastic about the year we have planned for students. Our staff is also excited about the opportunity to meet you at our back-to-school events.

Locker Day Tuesday, August 6th from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Locker day is an optional opportunity for you and your child to get familiar with the building, receive your locker assignment (returning students will receive the same locker as last year), pick up a free school t-shirt and ask any questions you may have.

Your attendance at Locker Day is strictly optional. All back-to-school forms will be completed online. You'll receive information about completing the online forms soon if you haven’t already.

Schedule Distribution Student schedules will be available online through the Home Access Center on or before August 6. Hard copies will be available at Locker Day. Students will also receive a hard copy on the first day of school.

Open House Thursday, August 22nd from 4:00-6:30 P.M. At Open House, parents will meet their child's teachers and learn how to connect to our school announcements, grade reporting system and social media sites.

In an effort to be as welcoming as possible, both of these events are “come and go” events. No appointments are necessary. We look forward to welcoming your family to the Wildcat community.

    Sincerely,

    Tim Sparacino, Principal

Additional information that will help you prepare for the start of school is available below.

    School Safety

The safety of your child is THE top priority for us. We are proud to say that we have a school resource police officer on campus full time who consistently conducts school safety drills.

First Day of School & Bell Schedule

Tuesday, August 13. Our school day starts at 8:35 AM and ends at 3:35 PM. Students will report to 5th period at the beginning of school on Tuesday, August 14 where they will receive a hard copy of their schedule.

    1:1 Chromebook Initiative

An optional Chromebook protection plan that covers accidental damage for up to two incidents per school year is available. More information about our Chromebook initiative and the protection plan is available on the District web page (Click Departments, then Technology, then 1:1 Chromebook Program).

Traffic Patterns and Morning Drop Off

Traffic around our building during the first few days of school will be heavy and will require your patience. You can help make things run smoothly by adhering to our traffic flow patterns. Buses load and unload in the back of the building. Traffic is restricted to the front of the building before and immediately after school. Car riders are dropped off and picked up in front of our building on Wildcat Way. After car riders arrive in the morning, they will enter the main doors at the front of the building and report to the appropriate area. Arrival and other procedures will be thoroughly reviewed with students during the first days of school.

    Back2School Bash

Our PTO will host a Back2School Bash for students on Friday, August 16 from 3:35 – 5:30 PM. Admission is free. You may want to send money with your child for concessions.

    Lunch & Food Deliveries

We have three lunch periods per day. We will review your child’s lunch schedule with them each day until they no longer need our reminders. Because of state law, we cannot accept or deliver any food from you for any student other than your own child.

    Checking Grades

Grades can be monitored online through our Home Access Center. You can learn more about connecting to HAC at Locker Day, Open House or by contacting our Registrar, Bridgett Brownlee at 479-254-5362.

    School Supplies

Our school supply list can be found on the Bentonville Schools website under the ‘Parent’ tab, then ‘In the know.’ We encourage every student to arrive with pencils, pens and paper on the first day of school. If a class requires a specific school supply item, the teacher will make that clear during the first days of school and Open House.

    We’re Here to Serve

If you need help securing any materials or supplies that would assist your student with being successful, please let us know. Our goal is for every Wildcat to have exactly what they need to excel.
