Sarah Butcher grew up in Minnesota and joined the United States Air Force after graduating high school. She was a photographer for 8 years with the military to include 4 years at the White House Communications Agency. While serving in the Air Force she received her Bachelor degree in Graphic Design and her Master degree in Education. After her time in the Air Force, she volunteered with a government contract company to go to Iraq for 12 months creating graphics for high-level officials. While there she met her husband, Donald, an officer in the Air Force. Sarah and Donald have been married for almost 10 years and have a 6-year-old little girl. After being a stay at home mom raising their daughter, Sarah went back to teach Art in Colorado and realized her passion for teaching.  Sarah and her family spend their time mountain biking, traveling and being outdoors.

As a former graduate of Bentonville High School, Wendy appreciates the progressive and top notch school district that we live in. She has held several positions in the district. Wendy earned her Bachelors of Nursing degree and Nurse Practitioner license from UAMS in Little Rock. She then went on to obtain her Masters in Nursing Education from the University of Oklahoma.

Shanna Workman // Health Sciences

Shanna Workman joined the Ignite Team this year after previously teaching at Northwest Arkansas Community College in the Early College Experience Program.  Shanna received her BSN at Northern Illinois University and has been a Registered Nurse for the past 13 years.  The majority of her career was spent as a Nurse Manager and in Staff Education with a focus on educating Certified Nursing Assistants.  Shanna is thrilled to join the Health Sciences career strand of Ignite and believes in the need for compassionate and well trained healthcare professionals as well as the relevant and personalized experience Ignite provides its students.  Shanna and her husband Mike moved to Northwest Arkansas in 2017 from the Chicago area, and have three girls Kira, Emma and Layla.

Kimberly Burgess // Education Innovation

 

Kimberly Burgess graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1991 and started her education career that same year. Her passion for people and joy of teaching and learning has grown as a result of working in a variety of roles and settings. Her experience  includes Special Education, General Education, and English as a Second Language from early pre-K Intervention through adults. She is a Master’s level, National Board Certified teacher.  She joined Bentonville Schools 18 years ago and resides in Bella Vista with her husband and three kids. She is thrilled to be part of a program that seeks and shapes future innovative educators that embrace all students.

Audra Weeks // Culinary Arts

Audra Weeks is a native of Rogers and has a love of southern cuisine and southern hospitality.  She has taught culinary related classes since 1991, the majority of which have been for the Bentonville School District.  Most recently she implemented the newly developed culinary program of study at Bentonville West High School. Audra is a National Board Certified Teacher and is passionate about project based and student driven instruction.  Audra is a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor’s of Science in Vocational Education with an emphasis in Family and Consumer Science. Audra has taken extensive instruction through the National Restaurant Association.  She is a ServSafe instructor and proctor and a ProStart educator.

Anthony Byrnes // Video Production

 

Anthony Byrnes graduated from the University of Central Arkansas and began his career in video production in 2010. He has worked for major brands such as apartments.com and Costar. In 2014 He started his own small production company and gained real world experience on the amount of drive it takes to be successful in the film industry. Anthony has always had a passion for giving back to young filmmakers and creatives and hopes to be a positive and influential mentor. New to Northwest Arkansas, Anthony currently lives in Bentonville with his wife, Stephanie and four girls: Sophia, Ainsley, Magnolia, and  Winnie.

Jessica Imel, the Instructor for Ignite Global Business, is passionate about creating a quality, relevant learning experiences for students. Jessica is a graduate of the Walton MBA program at the University of Arkansas with over 10 years of experience in various roles in Corporate Finance and Strategy and has been an educator with Bentonville Schools since 2012. She utilizes her experience to create a unique and supportive learning environment for students interested in pursuing careers in business.

John Mark Russell comes to Ignite Technology with over 25 years of professional experience in a variety of roles in Fortune 500 companies including Texaco, Enron, AT&T, Sprint, EDS, and Walmart.  John Mark has discovered a new career which brings his passion for Technology to Bentonville’s Ignite students.  The Technology instructor role allows him to leverage his professional experience to create an authentic learning environment for students interested in pursuing careers in every area of Technology.

Chris Weeks // Construction Management

 

Chris’ first teaching experience was as a Construction Technology instructor at a vocational school in Lebanon Missouri. He left teaching to accept a position as a Youth Pastor in Nebraska, but eventually returned to teaching while there. A licensed contractor for more than 25 years, Chris has worked in many states doing both commercial and residential building. He has built custom homes in the Bentonville area for 12 years.
