• Traffic Plan


    Student safety is our top priority. We are asking for your cooperation regarding the transportation procedures for this school year. Beginning the week of August 19, 2019, all visitors must check in at the office between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:30 pm. Seeing a teacher will require an appointment during that time frame. Please be prepared to show photo ID when visiting or picking up a student(s).



    Morning Car Riders

    • Drop off is in the front of the building through the car loop between 7:00-7:30 a.m.
    • At approximately 7:05 a.m. school officials will be on duty for the front car riders. Once duty personnel are in place, please do not let students exit your vehicle until signaled to do so.
    • Have students ready to exit the car: Backpacks in their laps, kisses and hugs given, etc.
    • Please make sure your car is not moving and do not proceed until signaled to do so by school personnel using the stop/go sign.
    • Please do not get out of your car. Your child should be unbuckled and ready to exit.
    • If your child needs assistance getting into the building, please park in the parking lot and escort them to the building.
    • Once in the building, students may go to breakfast or go directly to their classroom.
    • Breakfast will be served from 7:00 am until 7:30am.


    Afternoon Car Riders

    • The bell rings at 2:30 p.m. Students are assigned dismissal locations based on the way they go home.
    • For safety all cars that are picking up car riders must have a Car Rider sign displayed in the front windshield. If the car does not have a Car Rider sign displayed.
    • Please make sure your car is not moving and do not proceed until signaled to do so by school personnel.
    • Everyone picking up a car rider is expected to utilize the car rider line and remain in the car.


    Bus Riders

    • Bus riders are escorted to busses by school personnel and are supervised until busses clear the lot. For bus info: 479-254-5080



    • Arrival: Walkers enter the building through the doors at the East end of the building.
    • Please park in a parking lot and walk your students to the door on the East end of the building. Please do not let students out on the sidewalk by the gate along Martin Luther King Blvd.
    • You will need to obtain a Walker Slip by showing your photo id to the front office prior to picking up your child.
    • Each day when you pick up your child, you will need to show your Walker Slip to a staff member. The staff member will call your child to the door.


    Washington Walkers

    • Students who live between Apple Glen and J street may be walkers with our “Washington Walkers.” Students who also walk to WJHS may also be in our Washington Walkers group.
    • Students in this group will be held until all buses have left the lot. Students will then be safely escorted across the parking lot.


    Adventure Club

    • Adventure Club is our before and after school child-care program. The hours of operation are from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Please see Adventure Club personnel about details for drop-off and pick-up.



    • The tardy bell rings at 7:30am. If you arrive at school later than 7:30 you will need to come into the office to sign your child in. If a teacher has already done attendance for the day and a student arrives late and they are not signed in to the office by an adult, they may accidentally be marked absent. Please make sure to walk your child each time they are tardy.


    ***Parents or guardians must send a note to school or call the office at 479-254-5580 if your child’s dismissal information changes. Changes in transportation home or early pick-up from school may not occur after 2:00, unless it is an unavoidable emergency. Without a note or a phone call to the office (before 2:00 p.m.) from a parent, students will be sent home in the manner they usually go home. Emailing teachers to change dismissal information is not effective as teachers are focused on instruction and may not check their email during instructional hours.
