SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH
At Mary Mae Jones Elementary we recognize the needs of the whole child and work to provide this vital support. We take a tiered approach to mental health that is both proactive and respondent. Classroom guidance (Tier 1) is provided to each classroom monthly for both blended and virtual settings. Small group counseling and behavior support (Tier 2) is provided throughout the year based on teacher, administrative or parent referral. Individual counseling (Tier 3) is provided at any time based on student need.
SCHOOL-BASED THERAPY
We also offer school-based therapy through partnerships with local mental health agencies. Parents can either arrange this by calling on their own, or our school counselor can also send in a referral. The agencies that serve Mary Mae Jones:
SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL LEARNING
We provide social and emotional learning through our classroom guidance program according to our district Comprehensive Counseling Plan. We currently use the Core Essential Values Program for our character education. Additional lessons are provided based on our annual building needs assessment data.
