Quick and Easy Bike Train Planning
The Quick and Easy Bike Train Planning document outlines a simple framework for organizing a neighborhood bike train for students riding to school together. It covers selecting safe routes, identifying meeting points and pickup times, recruiting parent ride leaders, and communicating clearly with families about safety expectations and helmet use. The goal is to make participation easy, reduce traffic congestion around schools, and build community while helping kids ride safely and confidently.

Bicycling to School Together: A Bike Train Planning Guide
Bike trains enable students to get to school while enjoying the outdoors and the company of other bicyclists. Best suited for children in upper elementary and middle school grades, bike trains are led by adults - one at the front and one at the rear of the train - that accompany students as they bike to and from school. From one or two neighbors biking together, to a route with multiple “stations” where more riders join in, bike trains can be a great way to instill a love of bicycling while developing life-long safety skills.
Safe Routes to School: How to Get a Bike Train Going at Your School
A bike train is a simple and exciting way for kids to get active while traveling safely to and from school. Students ride together as a group, guided by adults who help keep everyone safe and make the journey enjoyable. As biking continues to grow across the country, bike trains play an important role in Safe Routes to School programs, helping students arrive on time, improving safety, reducing traffic and pollution near schools, and encouraging more families to choose walking and biking, all while making the trip a highlight of the day.
