A Note From The Principal
Apple Glen Families-
Well February was quite the month with all of the snow days. I hope you and your family enjoyed the additional time together. You may remember, Bentonville Schools moved to an hourly model which allows us to "bank" extra time towards snow days. Our current calendar allows us to bank 7 snow days. At this point, we have used 6 days therefore we do not have to add additional days to our school calendar. This week you will receive communication from your child's teacher regarding Parent-Teacher Conferences. Please sign up for a time to come and meet with your child's teacher. Our goal is to meet with 100% of our families.
Last month, I shared that Apple Glen has been recognized with State Recognition and Rewards funds. Many of you completed the survey with input on how we might enhance our school with these funds. Thank you so much for your input. I wanted to share some information regarding some of the more popular pieces of feedback.
Swings- Our PTO has raised the funds to put swings on the playground. The swings were installed on Friday!! We are so excited for students to enjoy them today.
Playground equipment- Over the years our PTO has provided us with a wide variety of recess equipment. We have had storage outside to keep it safe. Unfortunately, the storage has been broken into and equipment has gone missing. However, due to the amount of feedback regarding this topic, we will revisit as a committee and brainstorm ways to provide equipment but also have a system for ensuring it is returned safely each day. If you have further input on this, feel free to reach out to me.
Apple Glen Gym- Several comments were made about improvements to our gym. We have already collaborated with our facilities department who came and changed out the lighting in our gym. We are also forming a student committee with Coach Holton and myself to brainstorm new equipment they would like to utilize while participating in PE.
Spanish- We know that many families are interested in their child receiving Spanish instruction while in elementary school to help prepare them for middle school. We have started conversations with district admin. and hope to be able to share a plan to provide Spanish instruction soon.
Thanks,
