A Model PLC School

We're thrilled about the Willowbrook Elementary community, where our dedicated staff is committed to delivering an outstanding educational journey for each child. Established in 2012, Willowbrook Elementary has been devoted to students with an unwavering goal of achieving excellence. With a school population of over 600+ students in K-4, we pride ourselves on a data-focused approach, allowing our insights to guide every aspect of our educational practices. Willowbrook is a Model PLC at Work School that strives to ensure student growth and academic performance are a priority. The goal has remained the same ever since, striving for excellence in all that we do. Going above and beyond, our team ensures students experience captivating and empowering hands-on learning.

Our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) are dedicated to focused and effective collaboration. To guide our work, we've developed a campus-created planning cycle that encompasses critical questions and essential steps for teaching and learning. This cycle includes determining proficiency scales, analyzing pre-assessment data, planning instruction, celebrating achievements, reflecting on practices, and examining student work.

To enhance our teachers' professional development, we've leveraged opportunities from reputable sources such as Solution Tree, Arkansas Leadership Academy, and Ron Clark Academy. The insights gained from these providers have significantly contributed to the development of our teaching staff. Additionally, we've conducted in-house professional development sessions covering STEM, robotics, Amplify CKLA, Eureka Math, Conscious Discipline, dyslexia supports, ESL strategies, and engagement strategies inspired by Hope & Wade King.

Our commitment to excellence in education was recognized by Solution Tree, designating Willowbrook Elementary as a Model PLC School. This prestigious honor highlights our school's dedication to creating systems that drive student learning and are directly linked to student success. Willowbrook is one of about 500 schools in the nation and Canada to be recognized as a Model PLC School.

WIN Time

At Willowbrook Elementary, all students will take part in a daily 30 minute block time that is called WIN Time. WIN is an acronym that stands for “What I Need,” and this time is built into our master schedule. It is a time set aside for teachers and staff to deliver specific instruction targeting the individual needs of each student. We have two WIN time blocks, one for literacy and one for math.

Using our grade-level assessment performance data, all students are placed in an area of instruction during WIN time that fits exactly “What he/she Needs.” These groupings are fluid, and staff will collaborate to make adjustments on placements of their students each month.

Throughout the day all students will receive 90 minutes of daily instruction in math and 120 minutes in literacy. WIN Time is an additional 30 minutes of instruction in math and an additional 30 minutes of instruction in literacy that takes place each day. All staff are assigned a WIN Time group. All students in each grade level will go to WIN time sessions to receive direct, skill-based instruction based on their individual needs.

At Willowbrook Elementary we are very proud of the opportunities that WIN Time offers every student in the building. This is without question dynamic support for our students’ learning at the highest level. If you have specific questions regarding your child’s placement during WIN time, please contact your child’s teacher.
