Schoolwide Traditions, Events, and Celebrations
Please see below a description of several events, traditions, and celebrations that take place at Willowbrook every school year. There may be other events and spirit days added throughout the year to our monthly school calendars.
Morning Meetings - Classrooms participate in making connections and beginning the day by setting their collective commitments. This creates a healthy school culture.
Wake-Up Willowbrook Assemblies- Our school community comes together to learn, set goals, and celebrate. School presentations, performances and awards are given at our Wake-Up Willowbrook assemblies. Assemblies are scheduled for every other Friday at 8 am. Parents are welcome to attend.
Houses - Our house system is a school wide system of community. Everyone, staff and students, are a member of a house and each house is a different color. House meetings bring joy and togetherness. We have 8 different houses. They learn together, participate in service projects, perform team building activities, create their own house chants, etc. Students in K-1 will learn about all 8 houses before being sorted into their very own house in 2nd grade.
Stomp Shop - Our PTO manages the Stomp Shop which is open every Friday morning from 7:25 am - 7:45 am. Students may purchase all kinds of items from anywhere between a quarter and a few dollars. It is best to avoid sending students with large bills. Our students love the Stomp Shop.
Food Days - In accordance with ADE Rule 8.02.4, students may be given any food and/or beverage items during the school day for up to nine different events each school year. These are only permitted for party days and celebration days that are scheduled in advance each year. You will see these days noted on the school calendar throughout the year.
