🥣 Let’s keep the kindness rolling—one cereal box at a time! 💙

⏳ Just TWO days left in our Annual ESE Cereal Drive. Our goal? Fill the gym with cereal boxes and create an epic Domino Run to celebrate the generosity of our amazing students and families.

🌟 Let’s push past our goal of 2,000 boxes! ESE Student Parliament is leading this effort to support Samaritan House and the families they serve. Every unopened box makes a difference!

📍 How to donate:
*Send in unopened cereal boxes with your student
*Drop-off each morning (through Friday at 10:00 a.m.)
*Grade-level bins are located in the cafeteria

📊 Current standings:
Kindergarten: 105
1st Grade: 142
2nd Grade: 212
3rd Grade: 74
4th Grade: 226
Total so far: 759 boxes!

AND… the grade with the most donations wins POPSICLES!
Our Annual Domino Run will take place this Friday at 2:00 in the gym (students and staff only).

📢 Celebrating Success at Evening Star! 🦉💙

The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has released the official 2024–2025 school letter grades, marking the first year of full implementation under the state’s updated accountability formula.

This new formula is designed to provide a clearer and more meaningful picture of how Arkansas schools:
✔️ Support student achievement
✔️ Measure year-to-year growth
✔️ Ensure students are prepared to be enlisted, enrolled, or employed

✨ We are proud to share that Evening Star Elementary earned a letter grade of A! ✨

This outstanding accomplishment reflects the achievement and growth of our 3rd- and 4th-grade little owls on last year’s ATLAS assessments. It also speaks to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the ongoing support of our families.

We are so proud of our school community and excited to keep building on this success. Together, we are helping every little owl shine! 💫

As we kick off the year, here are a few quick reminders to help your first day run smoothly:
🚙Car Riders:
Thank you in advance for your patience! It takes a couple of weeks to fine-tune our dismissal routine, and we’re expecting a large number of car riders during the first few days. The car line may take up to an hour or more while our students learn the process. Thank you for your understanding and support!

🚌Bus Riders:
To request a new bus route or check your route for the year, download the BusQuest app and submit your request there.
*Once signed up, continue using the BusCompass app for real-time tracking and alerts when the bus is within three stops of your child.
*Detailed instructions for both apps were included in our Welcome Back Parent letter.

📝Reminders:
✨Don’t forget a water bottle and snack for your child
✨Doors open at 7:00 A.M.
✨Morning announcements begin at 7:25 A.M.
✨The tardy bell rings at 7:30 A.M. & teachers will promptly start instruction.

Today is the day!
Can you believe it? Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 12th, we kick off the first day of the 2025–2026 school year together! We are so excited to welcome our little owls back into their nest here at ESE.

As we gear up for the big day, we want to share a few important reminders about arrival and dismissal, especially during these first two weeks. Our staff has put together a brief informational video with helpful details. Be sure to check your email for the link.

The safety of your child is our number one priority. With more than 450+ car riders expected, please know that the car line will take time. We truly appreciate your patience and support as we get back into the routine.

Here are a few key reminders:
1. Car Rider Pass – All car riders must have the 2025–2026 ESE Car Rider Pass displayed in the front windshield. These were distributed at Open House.

2. Heavy Traffic – Expect heavy traffic the first few days. Leave early, allow extra time, and stay patient.

3. Student Walkers – Many students (120+) will be walking to school. Please be alert and drive with caution.

4. Bus Delays – School buses may run late as both drivers and students adjust. We’ll work quickly to minimize delays.

5. Bus Safety – Watch for students getting on and off buses. Never pass a stopped school bus.

6. No Cell Phones – Using a phone in a school zone or parking lot is against the law. This includes the entire school zone along Haxton Road and Roberts Road, as well as in our car rider line. Stay focused to help keep everyone safe.

7. Right Turn Only – Only right turns onto Haxton Road are allowed from 7:00–7:30 A.M. and 2:30–3:30 P.M. Turning left during these hours backs up the entire line. Thank you for helping us keep things moving.

8. Keep Crosswalks Clear – Please avoid blocking crosswalks. We have crosswalks located at:
* Haxton Road and Roberts Road
*Entrance of the car line (for Gaston Rd walkers)
*Two in the parking lot
*One in the car line at the front entrance of the school

For more details, please refer to the transportation handout provided at Open House and emailed to families yesterday.

We’re so grateful for your cooperation and can’t wait to begin another amazing year at ESE!

Just a few more days until our little owls are back in the ESE Nest! We can’t wait to welcome everyone to another amazing school year at Evening Star Elementary — the place to be! 💙

One of the biggest reasons our ESE owls are able to dream big and fly high is because of YOU — our incredible parents and families. Your partnership with our dedicated staff helps create a vibrant learning environment full of opportunities for every student.

Through the unwavering support of our ESE PTO and families, we’ve been able to bring so many enhancements to our school, and every dollar raised truly makes a difference for every owl.

Here’s a look at just some of the amazing things your involvement has helped provide over the past six years:
✨ 2 sets of swings
✨ Gaga pit
✨ Hover net climbing structure
✨ Book sets for classroom literacy
✨ $10,000 toward new library books
✨ Playground shade structure
✨ Picnic tables
✨ Soccer goals
✨ Robotics & drone kits
✨ Beam projector
✨ $10,500 directly to classrooms for instructional materials
✨ A climbing wall
✨ ADA Swing and a SECOND saucer swing

We’re Soaring High at Evening Star!
