TeacherEase

Dear Osage Creek Elementary Families,

Bentonville students in grades K-6 are assessed using a standards-based grading system. Our system uses a three point scale that is designed to report a student's progress toward meeting specific standards in a given class or subject area.  Using the three point scale and establishing a score for each standard tells parents, the student, and the teacher what the student knows and where the gaps are.

Bentonville Schools K-6 Grading Scale

3  Meets mastery

Got It: Student’s work shows understanding and application of the standard independently.

2  Progressing but not yet consistent

Almost There: Student’s work shows partial understanding and/or application of the standard.

1  Not yet mastered

Not There Yet: Student’s work shows minimal to no understanding of the standard.

Multiple learning targets from each standard have been identified as concrete goals for students to achieve as they progress through their learning.  Teachers will analyze and assess student performance looking for evidence of learning on these specific learning targets.   Students will be provided multiple opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of a given learning target.

In an effort to increase communication between parents and teachers regarding student progress, Bentonville Schools uses TeacherEase, an electronic standards-based reporting system. As students demonstrate evidence of mastery, or lack thereof, teachers will enter this evidence in TeacherEase as an assignment.  Each assignment can be linked to multiple learning targets.  A 1, 2, or 3 will be recorded for each learning target included in the assignment.

Through the TeacherEase parent portal, parents will be able to see the evidence of student learning and track their student’s progress towards mastery of the standards. A student who masters all of the learning targets for a given standard will receive a three on the report card, while a student who masters at least half of, but not all, learning targets will receive a two.  Finally, a student who masters fewer than half of the learning targets for a given standard will receive a one.

The TeacherEase parent portal is available for viewing by parents. More information regarding how to access and log in to the portal is available at this youtube address.

Please let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions about this platform.
