Some of our staff began their IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Category 1 Training Making the PYP Happen Implementing Agency today. They are excited to start the training and we cannot wait for the upcoming school year!
The International School will hold a Kindergarten Open House on Monday, August 12th.
Students with last names starting with A-M will have their orientation between 9 a.m.- 10 a.m. The Open House will begin with an informative session facilitated by school leadership, starting at 9 a.m.
Students with last names starting with N-Z will have their orientation between 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The Open House will begin with an informative session facilitated by school leadership, starting at 10:30 a.m.
1st - 4th Grade Open House will occur on Monday, August 12th from 3:45 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. This will be a come-and-go event.
There will be two informational sessions with school leadership in the library, which will take place at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. We will be talking about the upcoming school year.
The 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. sessions are the same content and are not required.
Congratulations to Mr. B for completing Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Training Level 2.
This is an advance training in creative music teaching. Teachers learn to select and vary materials for students, linking elements of drama, movement, instrumental exploration, and dance. This is a 60 hour commitment over the summer!
The June PYP Category 1 Team is planning hard, building relationships, organizing units of inquiry, and engaging best practices.

Jenna McDowell has been hired to teach at The International School at Mary Mae Jones next school year! She is a graduate of Bentonville High School and pursued a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Central Arkansas. She minored in Family and Consumer Science. In college, she was Summa Cum Laude and each semester was awarded as a Presidential Scholar.
In 2021, she was recognized as the University of Central Arkansas Female Student-Athlete of the Year (Softball), and she was awarded All-Academic Team (Softball) from 2021-2023.
Welcome Jenna!
Bethney Soto Torres will be one of two Spanish teachers next year at The International School at Mary Mae Jones. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a major in Psychology and a minor in Child Services. She graduated with Highest Distinction and was on both the Dean’s List and Chancellor’s List.
Her hobbies include reading, spending time with friends and family, and going on walks in the park.

Taylor Wall has been hired to teach at The International School at Mary Mae Jones next school year. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
She comes to the school from Barney Ford Elementary School in Denver, Colorado where she taught 2nd grade. Prior to her time at Barney Ford Elementary School, she taught 1st grade at McLaughlin-Strickland Elementary School in Carrollton, Texas.
We are excited to welcome Ms. Wall to our school!
Jennifer Ortiz has been hired for a teaching position at The International School at Mary Mae Jones! We are excited Ms. Ortiz will continue her work at the school in this new role. Anyone who has met her knows her to be a kind, service-oriented, kid-first advocate for learning and growth.
She loves this school so much and we are excited for her to continue her professional journey alongside us. She will graduate this Saturday from Missouri Southern State University.
In her free time, she enjoys trying new coffee shops and traveling.
