October Calendar

Willowbrook Families,

Welcome to Fall!! It's been nice to have a change in the weather. Our staff and students have enjoyed a break from the heat. We have some updates and information for you.

Each year our school comes together to decide on our school-wide improvement goal. This is a task that we take very seriously and we work hard to action plan the progress needed to achieve that goal each year.

Through the implementation of a high-functioning professional learning community, our goal is for our staff to utilize discussions, strategies, rigorous learning content, the science of reading learning strategies, and effective common assessment data to show the proficiency of students in grades K-4 meeting their academic growth goal by the end of 22-23 school year on the Reading and Math MAP and ACT Aspire Assessment.

Our individual grade levels have also worked to create grade level goals within the quarter to help our school achieve this school wide goal. You will notice our grade level goals posted in the front commons area of our school.

Immunizations

If you have not done so, please make sure that your child's immunizations are up-to-date and that you have provided the proper documentation to our school nurse, Nurse Brittany Bates.

Lunch Accounts

Have you deposited funds into your child's school meal account? Students are charged for each meal they eat from the cafeteria. Breakfast costs $2.05 each day, and lunch costs $2.85 (K-6) or $3.05 (7-12) each day. Visit bentonville.familyportal.cloud to add money to your child's account or click on the "Apply for Benefits" button to find out if your family is eligible for free and reduced-price meals.

Teacherease Grade Reporting

Bentonville students in grades K-6 are assessed using a standards-based grading system. Our system uses a three point scale that is designed to report a student's progress toward meeting specific standards in a given class or subject area. Using the three point scale and establishing a score for each standard tells parents, the student, and the teacher what the student knows and where the gaps are.

Bentonville Schools K-6 Grading Scale

3 Meets mastery

Got It: Student’s work shows understanding and application of the standard independently.

2 Progressing but not yet consistent

Almost There: Student’s work shows partial understanding and/or application of the standard.

1 Not yet mastered

Not There Yet: Student’s work shows minimal to no understanding of the standard.

I invite you to please see the attached Teacherease Parent Letter and Parent Video for further explanation of our parent portal.

Thank you,
