Second grade students in Ms. Trolinger & Mrs. Jones classes conducted an investigation to help us understand the properties of matter. Students were given a variety of materials to test for softness, flexibility, ability to be waterproof and float. After their investigation students worked to decide which tested material would be best for waterproof clothing, a hat for summer, or making a toy boat.
Extra, extra reading all about it...Apple Glen Elementary Library has new shelving made by Eagle Scout, Ruby Bridges. Because of her work, we now have more shelving to house some of our CKLA (curriculum) books that students are always asking about in the library. The flexibility of these shelves will allow us to rotate themed books to keep books in the hands of our students. We truly appreciate her hard work in making this project come to life!!!
Curriculum Night is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10th. For your convenience, we are offering two sessions to choose from: 4:30-5:00 pm OR 5:15-5:45 pm. This is a great time to visit your child's classroom to learn more about the literacy & math curriculum, ask questions, and talk with staff.
Mrs. Burrow will also offering a volunteer training during the 2nd session from 5:15-5:45 pm in the cafeteria. This is required for anyone that will be volunteering at Apple Glen this year. If you can't make this training, there will be other options available and announced soon.

Last week, AGE teachers & staff were able to experience the Visible Learning Conference in San Diego, CA. While in attendance, they were able to enhance their knowledge of Visible Learning through PD classes to begin implementing in the new school year. They also accepted a prestigious award and are excited to share....

4th Grade Clap Out is TOMORROW, FRIDAY 5/17 @ 8:00 AM!! Parents are invited to attend and must check in at the office.
We also invite any BHS or BWHS Senior that attended AGE to come and walk our halls with our 4th grade students.

As a culminating project, 3rd grade students chose a notable historical figure from any of our CKLA units this year. They researched and wrote a speech to perform in front of family and 2nd grade students at the Living Wax Museum last Friday. They did a wonderful job and we are so proud of their hard work! #visiblelearning #whereexcellencelives #agesgrizzlies
The AGE 4th grade Student Council attended a field trip this morning to Bentonville City Hall. They were able to experience many things including a Q&A and photo opp with the Mayor, an overview of the GIS mapping system, a tour of the library, and a Q&A session with Parks and Rec at the Downtown Activity Center followed by lunch on the square. Students also received individual certificates of appreciation from Mayor Orman!
Due to potential for rain, we are rescheduling Donuts with Grownups for Wednesday 5/15 (originally scheduled for tomorrow). We hope to see you on Wednesday before school starts from 7:00 AM - 7:30 AM! Please park at Memorial Park and walk over to the pavilion on the AGE playground.
