Apple Glen is proud to be Arkansas’ only Visible Learning school!
Our mission & vision is to inspire students to learn and grow through seeking feedback, celebrating challenges, and taking ownership of their learning.
We use The Learning Pit as a visual to show students how learning can be hard but they can learn from their mistakes. We also teach 4 Learner Dispositions to all students to instill traits that will serve students as learners for the rest of their lives. Students provide feedback to each other on their progress towards their learning goals.
Just before break, Mrs. Wood met with each class to discuss the new art. Students did a great job of sharing all they already know about our learner dispositions and the learning pit.
We would like to give a special thank you to Rissa Webber, local artist and Apple Glen parent who designed the new art for our school. She did a fabulous job!!

3rd graders compared and contrasted Asteroids, Meteors, and Comets through the use of the Jigsaw method. According to Visible Learning research, the Jigsaw instructional method has an effect size of 1.20, with the potential to considerably accelerate student learning.
Students broke up into sections to become experts on one of three topics (Asteroids, Meteors, and Comets). Then, students formed small groups composed of an expert on each topic. Small groups shared their findings with one another and created a triple Venn diagram with details from their research.
