The International School at Mary Mae Jones had a blast at our Fall Carnival last night!
We appreciate the hard work that our PTO and many families put into planning and running the carnival.
It was a great time!

Mrs. Francis and her class had a "hands-on" learning activity.
The class learned about the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems and ended with a fun activity!
The students were able to see how all the systems worked together to make their hands function.

Join us tomorrow night for our Fall Carnival!

Monday Morning Assemblies always get our day started right!
We love celebrating our students and checking in with each other!
Have a wonderful week Navigators!

Learning is so much fun!
Third-grade created model hands to show how different systems function & collaborate!

Ms. Williams's class is busy sorting & relating multiplication models.
We love hands-on learning and teamwork!

Mrs. Ritter's class read the story The Three Little Pigs in their Knowledge Unit of stories. 🐷🐷🐷
They did a STEM craft where the students created their own house for their “little pig” out of toothpicks and gumdrops!
They had so much fun learning and creating!

Third grade is learning about the systems of the human body AND the systems of the Ancient Roman Empire in their third IB unit, "How We Organize Ourselves".
The central idea is "Systems and roles impact decisions," allowing students to explore how systems collaborate and guide our lives now just as they built the Roman Empire.
All this while focusing on using evidential text and details to support opinion.
What a great system!!

We started our Monday morning with a school-wide assembly.
We love to celebrate each other and learn from one another!
We celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, and student talents, and presented our first IB Learner Awards.
It's a great day at The International School at Mary Mae Jones!

Bike to School starts this week! We are excited to see all our students who live in a walk zone riding their bikes to school this week!

Our kindergarten students had the BEST day at McGarrah Farms Pumpkin Patch!

Happy October! Please see the attached newsletters from our counselors.

Teagan competed Sunday in the Regional Drive, Chip, Putt competition at Fields Ranch golf course in Frisco, TX.
She placed 2nd overall and 1st in putting in the girls' 7-9 year old division.
After the competition was over, Teagan said, "It was challenging but fun! I'm looking forward to next year!"

In IB Passport, we had our third-grade lesson on being Inquirers.
Students examined items from nature asking the key questions around "What, Where, When, Why, and How".
They looked for living creatures on plants, veins in leaves, and how the structures appear to be formed.
What a great day of questioning!

The International School at Mary Mae Jones had its first provocation day today!
Second grade started the CKLA units of Ancient Greek Civilizations and Greek Myths. They showed a brief clip about the Olympic torch; showed images related to the Olympics; and did a sort of images of different sports from the Olympics.
Students built a Wonder Wall with questions and ideas throughout the lesson. Teachers then "tore away the paper" for a big reveal of the details of the Unit Of Inquiry.
Kids had their interest piqued and had A LOT of wonders!
They will answer their questions as they learn about ancient Greece and myths and how the Olympics tie in.

Ms. Williams's third-grade class was having fun and working on their multiplication fact fluency.
Teamwork is the best! Keep up the great work!

Mark your calendars for our Fall Carnival! PTO will be sending home a pre-order form on October 1st.

Teens & Screens Parent Night will be held at the Arend Arts Center on September 23, 2024, at 6 p.m.

Mrs. Moran's class put on their engineering hats and developed a plan to build a structure to move a ping pong ball from one point to the cup at the other.
Students did a great job using the IB learner profile of Communicator to develop and carry out a plan.
