WJHS Art students have created ceramic bowls to sell as a fundraiser for Benton County Empty Bowls Organization. We will be selling their pottery at Parent/Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, March 5th, and Thursday, March 7th. The bowls are $20 with all proceeds going to fight hunger in Northwest Arkansas.

Washington Junior High School gardeners began their Spring garden maintenance and seed planting with a gift from the Bentonville Garden Club which included a selection of seed packets (herbs, tomatoes, host
pollinator plants), water hose wand and a new grow-light. Students divided into groups to prepare their 2’ seedling cups for planting and identification and to weed and water both the front and back gardens.
Mrs. Sutterfield organized the maintenance, and Mrs. Brown organized the seedling preparation. Bentonville Garden Club volunteer, Pamm Prebil, photographed the activities.

Our 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year is Becca Kirby! Mrs. Kirby is one of a kind and leads our kids in mathematics. This award and recognition by her peers could not go to a more dedicated person who loves kids and works hard to keep them engaged and learning at high rates!

Congratulations to our staff member of the year, Megan Irish! Mrs. Irish is our ISS Supervisor and so much more, including helping with testing and logistics for school events. She also helps kids in every subject and does it all with positivity and passion! Congrats again!

Hope to see you there!

There is still time to join this amazing competition! The last day to register is this Friday, February 23!

Seventeen seventh and eighth graders signed up for priority garden club on Friday, February 16th to welcome guest speaker, Kitty Sanders of the Ozark Botanical Gardens, speak on Arkansas Butterflies. She was a guest of the Bentonville Garden Club whose 6 volunteers support the priority garden club coordinated by science teachers Mrs. Sutterfield and Mrs. Brown. The students have a keen interest in creating biodiversity in the ecosystem at WJHS. They are particularly interested in planting host plants for
pollinators in the Spring.

Save the date! More details sent to your inbox on Friday afternoon.

The staff chili cook off was a hit on Friday! The winner was Mr. Pennington and runners up were Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Irish. The real winners though were all the rest of the staff… delicious!

Thank you for keeping our school and district safe.
