Our Foundations of Healthcare students at Bentonville High School had an incredible opportunity to join a virtual class with Grand Canyon University! During this hands-on lesson, students explored the art of wound closure, learning common techniques used by doctors in clinical settings.
Under step-by-step guidance, they practiced performing the simple interrupted suture, a fundamental medical stitching technique. This experience brought textbook concepts to life, giving our students a valuable glimpse into the medical field.

The experience didn’t stop there—students also earned their Stop the Bleed certification, gaining essential skills to recognize life-threatening bleeding and apply techniques like direct pressure and tourniquet application.

Bentonville High School students recently attended the first-ever youth track at the Stop Overdose Summit in Hot Springs, hosted by Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin. This impactful, event featured specialized tracks for various stakeholders focused on reducing drug-related deaths in Arkansas. Our students were honored to engage, learn, and take part in vital discussions to promote prevention and education.

Our Foundations of Healthcare classes at Bentonville High School had the opportunity to partner with Grand Canyon University for a hands-on activity that brought real-world healthcare challenges to life!
Students stepped into the shoes of a doctor, healthcare administrator, and health information manager, working together to tackle a complex scenario within a hospital setting. Using critical thinking and data analysis, they formulated innovative solutions to industry challenges.
This experience not only deepened their understanding of healthcare roles but also highlighted the importance of teamwork and problem-solving in the medical field.
