The Class of 2024 put up some incredible numbers. No surprise...they're incredible people. #whereexcellencelives

Today is the 80th anniversary of the June 6, 1944, D-Day landings, when more than 150,000 Allied soldiers invaded France by sea and air to drive out the forces of Nazi Germany. Our world might look very different had it not been for the courageous resolve of the Allied forces. Spend time talking to anyone alive on this date 80 years ago. There's a reason they're known as the greatest generation. #whereexcellencelives

What an honor it's been for the teachers and staff of Bentonville Schools to serve this week. Despite the destruction, we've seen the best of Bentonville...a lot of love and laughter this week among neighbors. #whereexcellencelives

One of Bentonville's finest right here! Corporal Melissa Fox is the school resource officer at Washington Junior High School. WJHS eighth-grader Jacoby Hook nominated her for the Extra Mile Award. In his nomination, Jacoby wrote, "Officer Fox is always encouraging and helpful. Even outside of school, she always goes out of her way to speak to me.”
Cpl. Fox said the most important thing she does is make students feel seen. "Serving as an SRO involves being an unofficial counselor,” Cpl. Fox said. “I’m thankful I’ve been allowed to pour into these young lives and, ultimately, find common ground with them,” she told us.
Cpl. Fox began her law enforcement career in Salt Lake City but grew up in Los Angeles. As a child, she noticed law enforcement always ran to danger. She admired their commitment to sacrifice for something bigger than themselves. She works daily to model the best of law enforcement, gaining students' trust along the way.
You're family, Cpl. Fox! Thank you for going the Extra Mile! #whereexcellencelives

Given the significant storm damage, we will cancel classes for the remainder of the school year for K-8th students. High school students should review their testing options. More information can be found in your email account. #whereexcellencelives

Congratulations to Bentonville West High School Senior Collier DeClerk who was recently named a U.S. Presidential Scholar. Only two students in the state of Arkansas received this recognition! Collier was selected based on his academics, leadership performance and athletic contributions. He'll graduate this Saturday and will attend the University of Arkansas as an Honors College Fellow. Collier plans to study business and is already a sponsored bass fisherman. #whereexcellencelives

One of our favorite nights of the year is when we stop to celebrate the shining stars of Bentonville Schools! At the top of that list is Dean Hacker who is celebrating 50 years with the district! Dean is a member of our facilities team and is a Bentonville gem! It was an honor to mark the occasion with Dean and his beautiful wife Cathy!
We also recognized our teachers of the year, including Amy Cox from Bright Field Middle School, Jennifer Bowen from Elm Tree Elementary and Kory Price, a teacher with Bentonville Virtual School.
These folks are the best of the best! Our team makes Bentonville Schools #whereexcellencelives

Game on! The Bentonville High School Esports Team is making headlines after bringing home two Arkansas State Championships! Our students beat out 32 teams in the state playoffs before advancing to the semifinals and championship games. This is the first championship since the creation of the Esports program in Bentonville six years ago. #whereexcellencelives

Did you know the yogurt parfait bar is one of our most popular offerings at our two high schools? The granola is made fresh on-site by our friends at Aramark and students can build their own or grab and go. The best part is we hear about students copying this healthy recipe at home! Now's the perfect time for your family to try it as we head into berry season! Granola recipe included here! #whereexcellencelives

Our NJROTC cadets recently hosted their Change of Command Gala! The celebration allows current cadet leadership to transfer assignments to a new command staff for the fall. The gala is a regal event for our students, their families and honored guests. Proud of these young men and women! #whereexcellencelives

The Bentonville Schools Foundation has cancelled tonight's Gold Rush 5k and Fun Run because of stormy weather.

Amanda Hinds is a Lincoln Junior High School science teacher and our April Extra Mile Award recipient.
Recently, Amanda took the reins to make 2024 Eclipse America memorable for her students. She planned a Disco At The Eclipse event, calling it a DATE to remember. (See what she did there.) Amanda arranged music, a scavenger hunt and ensured all students had viewing glasses to avoid A Panic At The Disco as she put it.
Amanda has gained a reputation for her unwavering commitment to her students, particularly young ladies who may face challenges balancing schoolwork, social media, and personal relationships. She has organized at-school fitness sessions, cosmetology classes and is the queen of positive posts on Instagram.
She said, “I get the chance every day to build up the next generation, helping them see their strengths.”
Please join us in congratulating Amanda for making Bentonville Schools #whereexcellencelives.
