Congratulations, Class of 2024! You've made Bentonville Schools #whereexcellencelives

Congratulations to Bentonville West High School Senior Collier DeClerk who was recently named a U.S. Presidential Scholar. Only two students in the state of Arkansas received this recognition! Collier was selected based on his academics, leadership performance and athletic contributions. He'll graduate this Saturday and will attend the University of Arkansas as an Honors College Fellow. Collier plans to study business and is already a sponsored bass fisherman. #whereexcellencelives

Commencement for our seniors at Bentonville West High has been rescheduled because of the threat of rain. Graduation will occur at Wolverine Stadium on Saturday, May 18, at 1:00 p.m. Live stream information can be found at bentonvillek12.org. Graduation for Bentonville High is scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Tiger Stadium.
We look forward to a beautiful celebration with the Class of 2024. #whereexcellencelives

Graduation is this Friday night and Saturday morning, but 16 of our students graduated from NorthWest Arkansas Community College today! These students completed two years of college while in high school! Way to make us proud, seniors! #whereexcellencelives

Every spring, we celebrate our retiring colleagues with a meal, awards presentation and a lot of laughs! These men and women represent the best of Bentonville Schools! We wish them tremendous happiness in the years to come! #whereexcellencelives

It's not too late to register for Backyard Bentonville! Learn more about our k-12 summer camp at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CYUaRLCgO5KnKZ3pa_t6oTX5W3CsRLLx/view

One of our favorite nights of the year is when we stop to celebrate the shining stars of Bentonville Schools! At the top of that list is Dean Hacker who is celebrating 50 years with the district! Dean is a member of our facilities team and is a Bentonville gem! It was an honor to mark the occasion with Dean and his beautiful wife Cathy!
We also recognized our teachers of the year, including Amy Cox from Bright Field Middle School, Jennifer Bowen from Elm Tree Elementary and Kory Price, a teacher with Bentonville Virtual School.
These folks are the best of the best! Our team makes Bentonville Schools #whereexcellencelives

Game on! The Bentonville High School Esports Team is making headlines after bringing home two Arkansas State Championships! Our students beat out 32 teams in the state playoffs before advancing to the semifinals and championship games. This is the first championship since the creation of the Esports program in Bentonville six years ago. #whereexcellencelives

Did you know the yogurt parfait bar is one of our most popular offerings at our two high schools? The granola is made fresh on-site by our friends at Aramark and students can build their own or grab and go. The best part is we hear about students copying this healthy recipe at home! Now's the perfect time for your family to try it as we head into berry season! Granola recipe included here! #whereexcellencelives

Our NJROTC cadets recently hosted their Change of Command Gala! The celebration allows current cadet leadership to transfer assignments to a new command staff for the fall. The gala is a regal event for our students, their families and honored guests. Proud of these young men and women! #whereexcellencelives

The Bentonville Schools Foundation has cancelled tonight's Gold Rush 5k and Fun Run because of stormy weather.

Amanda Hinds is a Lincoln Junior High School science teacher and our April Extra Mile Award recipient.
Recently, Amanda took the reins to make 2024 Eclipse America memorable for her students. She planned a Disco At The Eclipse event, calling it a DATE to remember. (See what she did there.) Amanda arranged music, a scavenger hunt and ensured all students had viewing glasses to avoid A Panic At The Disco as she put it.
Amanda has gained a reputation for her unwavering commitment to her students, particularly young ladies who may face challenges balancing schoolwork, social media, and personal relationships. She has organized at-school fitness sessions, cosmetology classes and is the queen of positive posts on Instagram.
She said, “I get the chance every day to build up the next generation, helping them see their strengths.”
Please join us in congratulating Amanda for making Bentonville Schools #whereexcellencelives.

Recently, a brilliant group of young ladies in our Ignitecaps construction program hosted a regional conference for female students across Northwest Arkansas interested in construction. The group called Girls Who Build is led by Bentonville students Yvonne Mbekenya, Autumn Mahl, Belinda Gradilla-Medina, Kayda Burns and Isabella Ochoa. The conference, hosted at Northwest Arkansas Community College, introduced students to internship and mentor possibilities. Way to build something great, ladies! #whereexcellencelives

It's an awesome moment when a student is accepted into his or her dream university. Bentonville High School Valedictorian Chandra Suda has received scholarships and acceptance letters to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Stanford, Johns Hopkins...the list goes on and on. That's not why we're sharing his story though. What sets Chandra apart is the work he's done to get here.
Chandra developed a smartphone app that can detect tuberculosis from the sound of a patient's cough. Tuberculosis kills 1.3 million people every year, most especially in rural and low-income nations. Chandra's work is now in clinical trials, but the implications for this app are huge, most especially in the lives of young children.
Congratulations, Chandra! You make Bentonville Schools #whereexcellencelives and our world a better place.

Mark your calendar! Tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. we're hosting a helpful discussion on how to pay for college from two industry professionals. #whereexcellencelives

What an honor to welcome Centers for Disease Control Director Mandy Cohen to Bentonville Schools! Director Cohen connected with our Ignite medical students while in Northwest Arkansas. Medical students discussed the national maternal mortality rate, Avian flu and the solution for chronic illnesses such as obesity and diabetes. We're proud of our Ignite students for their exceptional hospitality and brilliant discussion. Many thanks to U.S. Representative Steve Womack for making this day possible! #whereexcellencelives

Not a bad way to spend an afternoon! We all got outside today to watch the moon make its way in front of the sun! Another total solar eclipse won't be visible here in the States until August 22, 2044. #whereexcellencelives

This totality rocks! We're celebrating with an eclipse pre-party tonight at First Friday! Our science team has a couple of booths in the Downtown Bentonville Square where they're sharing hands-on science activities, solar eclipse glasses and Moon Pies! We're grateful to our friends at the Chattanooga Bakery and Walmart for the generous Moon Pie donation! #whereexcellencelives

Bentonville meets Quantico! Dr. Jennifer Morrow is the Executive Director of Secondary Education in Bentonville Schools, and Chloe Knolton is a Bentonville High School Counselor. These two recently spent a week at the FBI Citizen's Academy learning about the educational opportunities available through the bureau.
We'll share their training with high school students interested in careers with the agency and the real-life applications of bureau principles. #whereexcellencelives

Davina Lopez is a Bentonville West High School senior, currently enrolled in our Ignitecaps and Gateway programs. Over the last few months, she's had the opportunity to intern in some of the finest restaurants in the nation, including Conifer Restaurant and The Hive. The pathway possibilities leading to success after graduation are endless in Bentonville Schools! #whereexcellencelives
