Several of our architecture students attended an inspiring lecture by the architects who designed Crystal Bridges, Heartland Whole Health Institute and the Alice Walton School of Medicine. Our students had the rare experience of hearing from the internationally renowned architect Moshe Safdie in person, and came away with a better understanding of how intentionally designed spaces can increase the well being of the people using them.

Ms. Andrea Buck’s NWACC Child Growth and Development classes had the opportunity to visit Mercy Hospital’s Labor & Delivery and NICU units last week. During the visit, students engaged with a team of medical professionals and learned about the labor and delivery process, postpartum care, and the specialized needs of NICU infants. An anesthesiologist also provided an informative overview of how epidurals are administered. Students were able to explore medical training tools such as infant simulators and cesarean section practice models, as well as view some of the equipment that is used to save the lives of some of the smallest babies delivered in our community.
