Technical Math students toured the Crowder College Advanced Training and Workforce Center in Joplin last week, getting a firsthand look at career pathways, hands-on training opportunities, and the skills needed in today’s workforce. Experiences like this help connect classroom learning to real-world futures!

Last week, Mrs. Jimi Doty's Intro to Healthcare class had a Valentine's Banquet as part of their nutrition unit. In addition to discussing the nutrients in their food, they learned dining etiquette to include correct utensil use and how to correctly set a table. Their future employers will be so impressed!

Join us Thursday for Parent Teacher Conferences and more! Swipe for information about grades and meetings. We'll see you then!

It's Career & Technical Education Month! BWHS offers 20+ CTE pathways designed to prepare students for life beyond the classroom. Through our pathways, students also have opportunities to build leadership, teamwork and real-world skills by joining a Career & Technical Student Organization connected to their pathway.

Ms. Doty's Foundations of Healthcare students participated in a Live Education Session with Grand Canyon University where they are taught how to do suturing using Zoom. The university mailed the suturing kits and skin pads in advance of the class for them to practice on. Students enjoyed the experience and learned the function of each instrument and how to do a basic suture.

Our NWACC Intro to Education students spent an afternoon last week examining hands-on learning with a STEM-based professional development session in the 3M Tinkering Hub at the Amazeum. They are in a unit about planning instruction, so students will be able to immediately apply what they learned on the field trip while creating a lesson plan.
