Central Park teachers met after school yesterday to deepen their understanding of Conscious Discipline and to practice using the conflict resolution tool. Our teachers and staff work each day to not only support students academically, but to help them learn to identify and express their emotions, resolve problems with words, and to successfully work with others.

Ms. Diehl's class finished up their unit on matter last week. Students were challenged to build a hat that would keep the sun and rain off of their face. They had to decide on what materials would be best to use. All of the students were successful building and testing their hats!

Ms. Hall's first gators researched the seasons on PebbleGo this past week and then created posters to share with the class. This was tied to their learning target on identifying the main topic and key details in an informational text. Way to show what you know!

Ms. Lewellen's class learned about shadows and made some observations of their own shadows. They went outside at 3 different times of the day and traced their shadows. Then they talked about what they noticed each time. They were so excited to discover that their shadows had moved because the sun had moved! This goes along with the first grade unit in reading: patterns in the sky.
