Ms. Lewellen's class learned about shadows and made some observations of their own shadows. They went outside at 3 different times of the day and traced their shadows. Then they talked about what they noticed each time. They were so excited to discover that their shadows had moved because the sun had moved! This goes along with the first grade unit in reading: patterns in the sky.

Things that made us smile this week: Teachers who accidentally twin with each other, students who are excited and ready to tackle the day when they arrive, our amazing PTO bringing a happy cart around to treat the staff, and so much more!
We were very fortunate today to receive a donation of school supplies from a Walmart team! These supplies will be given out to our school family. The Wal-Mart squad members are: Whitney Hartman, Erin Bergman, Grayson Johnson. Marina Balser, Cassandra Licause Nutt, Heather Wilson, Gabriel Perkins, Fabian Quinones, and Brandy Cruse. Thank you for your generosity and for being a community partner with us at Central Park Elementary!
Mrs. Williams challenged her students to build a bridge out of forks. This STEM challenge promoted working together, being creative, and solving a problem. Look at all the cool ways they completed the task!
Third gators have been exploring the concepts of multiplication by creating arrays and writing equations to match their thinking. We love seeing Ms. Delancey's students working together to learn from each other!
Don't forget that tomorrow, September 2nd, is a spirit day!
9 days into the new school year and students have been busy learning new things, making new friends, and getting back into the groove of school. We can't wait to see what week 3 will bring!
These gators were referred to Mrs. Smith's office by their teachers for an Assistant Principal shout-out! Their teachers wanted to recognize them for being safe, responsible, and helpful. Way to go!
Our gators are off to a great start for this school year! What a joy it is to spend our days together as a school family. 💚
We had a wonderful time welcoming our kindergators to Central Park today! Please share your adorable pictures with us. Don't forget that students in grades first through fourth can come meet their teachers today from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
We can't wait to welcome all of you to Open House next Thursday! Come meet your teacher, drop off supplies, and be sure to visit our PTO table.
Have you added money to your child's school meal account? The federal government has withdrawn its blanket free lunch options so, on the first day of school, students will be charged for each food they buy in our cafeterias. Breakfast will cost $2.05 each day, and lunch will cost $2.85 (K-6) or $3.05 (7-12) each day. Visit bentonville.familyportal.cloud to add money to your child's account or click on the "Guest" button to find out if your family is eligible for free and reduced price meals. Don't wait! This is the perfect time to start preparing for the new year! #whereexcellencelives
If we could sum up field day in one picture, it would be this one right here!
Time to start gathering those supplies, Gators. We are getting so excited to welcome you back on August 15th!
