1st graders are wrapping up their unit on Astronomy! Mrs. Boyles' class discovered an app that allowed them to view the planets and constellations up close. The kids were fascinated with this! They also made the phases of the moon with Oreos.

Author Clayton Scott worked with Central Park 4th graders on elements of poetry throughout the week. Students wrote several different types of poetry while focusing on figurative language, visualization and presentation. They finished the week with a Poetry Slam! Clayton Scott's work at CPE was made possible through a grant from the Arkansas Heritage Arts Council Mini grant, the CPE PTO and the CPE library.

Ms. Hagel's scientists made ice cream! Through the science experiment they were able to construct an argument with evidence to conclude that some changes caused by heating or cooling can be reversed and some cannot.

Second graders were wrapping up their study of Ancient Chinese Civilizations last week. They were excited to invite Jeff Cheng to help them learn more about Chinese writing. Students learned about the progression over time for the characters of sun, moon, mountain and water and were able to practice writing these symbols.
